Basically, I created St. Finian’s because of a recent flurry of emails among my RCIA class. There was some debate and argument, and I had a blast composing a three-page email articulating my thoughts (maybe I’ll post it later). It helped me to clarify some matters of Faith for myself. I realized that I would enjoy having a forum to post my musings about my new faith. I don’t want a journal; I want the ability for there to be conversation. I want to be challenged if I’m unclear and forced to elucidate my thoughts. I thought a blog might just be perfect, so St. Finian’s Pub was born.

St. Finian’s is for talking about God and the Catholic Faith in a friendly and casual atmosphere; that’s why it’s a pub. Since I’m a new Catholic, I can hardly venture into deep waters of Theology. However, I’m not afraid to wade out as far as I can go to explore a bit. What I am mostly interested in is using this blog as a place to ruminate and explore the meaning and the ramifications of my new Faith on my life.

I welcome all constructive comments. That does NOT mean you must agree with me. It DOES mean you need to be civilized in your expression. Be honest! Be passionate! Be heated! But, ultimately, be respectful and polite. I don’t want to have to call the bouncer…
